Duties
The Town of Cape Carteret is currently accepting applications for a Part-time Police Officer. The Police Department provides police services 24 hours a day 7 days a week to more than 2,200 full time residents and a population that increases during the vacation season to include part time residents and visitors from across the country. Part-time employees are required to work a minimum of 16 hours per month.
Requirements
Candidates will have to complete a background investigation and a pre-hiring process that will include a medical examination, and psychological examination. All candidates must successfully complete the department’s field training program before being eligible to work as a solo officer.
All applicants must be eligible for immediate certification with N.C. Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission and possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license at the time of appointment. Applicants with previous law enforcement experience, advanced education or advanced training in criminal justice or related field are preferred.
